Easy way to change hydroponic nutrients
I’m testing an easy way to change hydroponic nutrients in my 5 gallon DWC system. So far it’s working really well. It’s basically a bucket within a bucket. The internal bucket has holes and contains the roots, air stones and tubing. To change nutrients I just add fresh solution to a clean bucket, and lift the top bucket out and place it in the new bucket. One thing to be aware of is some of the solution in the bottom container will be unused because of the gap between the two bottoms. It’s important to check the nutrient levels between changes in case any needs to be added. In the video I was cutting it very close, as it appeared to have run dry in the top bucket. I think I caught it soon enough to prevent any damage. I’m changing solution every two weeks, but from now on I’ll be adding an extra gallon between weeks.

You have make different types of buckets for your peppers, what has worked best for you?
Just getting into DWC for peppers and this is brilliant!
That's a system I would like to do. Way easier and if I have four plants all I need is still one extra bucket. Thanks. See y ou again. Lovely chillipeppers.
Hello Peter, Where did you set the air stones, outside bucket or the inside bucket with holes ?
Hey, does the water smell bad after a few days?
Does the ph rise overnight and cant control it?
Im having both these issues and cant seem to find a solution
Hey Peter so is that half soil or is it all solution just one big net pot
So peter got a noob question for ya.
Could I grow a tomato plant in one of these buckets that is a bubbler? Yes I know they can get very tall but I have at least 8 ft that’s including the 5 gallon homer bucket in my basement? Thanks
Peter, The hose coming out the bottom of the bucket going up..Is that where you hook your air or is it a drain ?
Great idea! Thanks!
Brilliant
Great job pointing out the fact your plant uses a gallon per week at this point in its existence.
Necessity, the mother of all invention, and this is genius, one of the reasons I didn't like dwc ,was the nutrients change, now I'll have to give it a second run at it,thanks ,like most other inventions ,it's so simple and right in front of you,and we always say geeeeee why didn't I think of that,ha ha ha
Why do you start DWC, then switch to Kratky?
Nice system I will be making one myself soon thanks for the information
Nice idea Peter!
Thanks for the good tips
Beautiful tree you got there, Peter
I can't wait to see you grow that into a monster.
I'm always learning for you Peter. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge.
