You can also dry out chili peppers from your garden to use as pest deterrents around your food storage!
I've read you do not have to freeze your flour if you are putting it in mylar bags because if there were eggs in the flour, they wouldn't be able to hatch due to the lack of O2 — is this true?
Linda, please tell me if days later your Mylar bags are all suctioned in tight or not. Been putting my stuff in Mylar bags since 2019, making sure no powder is up where it will be sealed and using more oxy absorbers than I need and rarely do I have more than 2 outta 6 or mor that are sucked in after days. I be watched many a video know I’m doing right. Do yours suck in all the way?

I also freeze flour for 3 days to insure no bugs or eggs will hatch. I was also taught to seal mylar bag with an iron.

I think you missed the fine print on that Prairie Mills Whole Wheat Flour for $21.98. It is for a 6 count of 4 lb. bags, so I think that's 24 lbs total for the $21.98, which really isn't a bad price. They need to advertise with larger print to point out the fact that it's a 6 ct., right? I wouldn't have seen it if I hadn't of paused the video to look at it. TFS how to store flour long term. I have a question about the mylar bags. Since they are so expensive, can you cut them in half and seal the end of the one half that is open on both ends, to get two bags out of one? I have a box of mylar bags and oxygen absorbers, but haven't used them yet. I sure appreciate your videos, Linda! God bless you and keep you safe!
If you have a food saver system, you can put 5lb bags of flour and masa in a bag and preserve it that way as well. No need to change packaging and you can see what you have.

nice video, I just vacuum seal mine for 5 years after freezing them.
Tomorrow is my – another 10-15 lbs flour and another 5 lbs sugar.
I learned to make Indian bread . Half batch uses a cup and a half flour .

Great video Linda. I cut my big mylar bags in half and have 2 bags instead of one to not waist any of the bag and make them worth the money because they aren't cheap.
I freeze 3 days, thaw and put in large mylar bags in 5 gallon buckets with oxygen absorbers. At first I thought I wouldn't use that much at a time, but I will. It takes 6 cups of flour for 3 good loaves of bread. I'm sure I would be making biscuits and pasta after my buckets of pasta are gone (If I live that long in an SHTF). Getting close to that 1k subs !!!!
We do the same on our mylar bags Linda. Thank goodness for mylar bags.
