Same thing happened to me. Good luck with the rest. I’m as confused as you are.
You can tell by the stem. It will separate like a cantaloupe. If you need to cut the stem it means it's not ripe.
Also, the tendril test is not a good way to distinguish ripeness. Your fruit could be past maturity. The underside, the spot that was laying on the ground, should have a creamy yellow spot and should have deep hollow sound when you hit it, and the bottom should have a little give.
Did you stop watering 10-14 before pulling? A lot of farmers do this to seal in color and sweetness.
Just picked my first one today about four days after tendril dried out, little more red than yours. One person I saw on you tube was talking about two weeks after I think he was right. My next one I'm waiting two weeks.
That’s a shame, but if it still tastes good it’s a win.
