What to do when your dragon fruit is turning yellow
You might observe that your dragon fruit turns yellow. This usually happens during the summer season or during the growth cycle. I noticed this yellowing of my dragon fruit last year and did not do anything about it. My dragon fruit eventually turned back to green. This year I decided to tackle the situation. I found out through research that applying epson salt will alleviate this problem. Epson salt is basically magnesium sulfate which may help plants grow greener. It help increase chlorophyll production and improve phosphorus and nitrogen uptake all of which help the plant yield flowers and eventually fruits. It is recommended to start applying epson salt a couple of weeks before summer/hot weather to prevent the yellowing of the plants. I hope this is helpful to you. Cheers.

Thanks for the info. I wonder, is it possible that the dragonfruit are getting sun burned? I don't know. This is my first year having dragonfruit. I have some which are still very young and just received some which seem almost as young, but are a little droopy from the trip.
So I'm learning.
Thank you very much for the knowledge
This one is work
How much do you put in and do you only put the salt in when it's summer?
I’m here in Riverside. Isn’t the yellowing from too much sun?
Do sunburn yellow causes stem rot? Thank you for your reply dear!
Thank you for sharing this video will try to use it on my tomato & chilli.
I Have 4 week old dragon fruits, is it good for them to be expose now in the sun for 1-2hrs?
Thank you for share your knowledgments! I think the yellowing of your plants are because the quantity of solar radiation received. Your plants are well nourished. When solar radiation is poor, the cells of the plant produce more chlorophyll that is green. The plant turns greener, in certain plant species. But when solar radiation is more than sufficient, the response is reduce the quantity of chlorophyll and the yellow color observed is from a carotenoid also present. The plant doesn't need a lot of the chlorophyll molecules and recycle them, making them pale green or yellow.
The page from the link below (in spanish language) shows that when the rows of plants are from north to south direction the plants have yellowing and sunburn in the east side of the plants, but interestingly is the side that produce more flower buds. The west side of the plants is greener and produce less flower buds. When farmers have the rows from east to west direction, the quantity of flower buds is similar in both sides (east and west).

Hello, the tip of one of my new-grown dragonfruit limbs is turning yellow. We use pure water and fertilizer, and it grows up a palm tree. It is almost translucent, but it's still slightly opaque. Can you tell me what this means?
Con que frecuencia se aplica la sal epsom
So did the leaves/branches turned green afterwards?
Is there an updated link to this video?
Is there any alternative of epsom salt. ..?
Thank you. What is the soil mix you use. Perlite and what else?
Magnesium can certainly help. The key point people are missing is that the yellowing is due to the fact that more nutrients are being utilized by the plant than is available to the roots. Periods of intense sunlight (high summer) etc. The plants (any plants) will start to cannibalize their leaves for more nutrients if they cannot access enough from the soil.
, they also turn yellow from a lack of iron as well
My dragon. Fruit kinda looks like this but on others it looks like they turning into jello and rotting away. Is there a fix to that?
after my flower blooms ,my dragon fruit gets rotten .what is the problem behind this
where to get Epson salt
Hey, I would like to know more about it. How effective is this? How many days the effect of adding Epsom salts lasts? What should be the frequency of adding epsom salt, (given mid March to mid June in India I.e. 3 month period is really hot for plants). Also I would like to know if you have any other ideas on developing natural ‘partial shade’ situation by adding non-invasive root system trees in between dragon fruit plantation!
Do you fertilize? My dragon fruits, pineapples, prickly pear love a 8-8-8 slow release fertilizer.
We plant dragon fruits for almost 2 yrs..but still no flower or fruit..what happen?
Did the Epsom salt work for you?
yellow can as you know can be magnesium deficiency…Epsom salt is magnesium oxide… in a the center of a every chlorophyll molecule is a one a magnesium atom…and the roots take in the oxide and give off co2… such a deal…just don't a you burn the little a roots by using too much at a one time…
I am glad you cover this topic. Mine all turn yellow and I thought may be too much sun.
How long is your rebar from the top of post to hold the tires?
Hi, I think it's the same thing that happens to my pitayas here in Malaga, Spain. The problem here is the summer sun and the high temperatures, I do not know if the solar intensity in California is the same as here but I think so. I solve that problem by putting a 40% shade because the pitaya grows in nature under the shade of the trees. But if your method works I will try it. Thanks for your videos, greetings from spain and sorry for my english
